Symptoms
Do your legs ache and swell as standing or sitting at work all day? You may not be able to see them, but pain, muscle cramps and swollen may be indications that you’re suffering from varicose veins.

Bulging, ropy veins are a symptom of varicose vein disease.
Other symptoms include:
- Spider veins
- Ropy, protruding leg veins
- Burning, throbbing or heaviness in the legs
- Itching and soreness behind the knee
- Leg ulcers
- Brown skin discoloration, especially around the ankle
Spider veins in the legs may be associated with underlying varicose veins, and other symptoms such as pain, heaviness, throbbing, and restlessness. If left untreated, varicose and spider veins often become more prominent and can result increased pain and swelling, leading to decreased mobility and quality of life.
