Race for the CurePremier Surgical Associates will sponsor and participate in this fall's 15th Annual Komen Knoxville Race for the Cure.

Since 1999, Premier Surgical Associates has entered a team in Knoxville's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Premier also is a gold-level sponsor of the signature fundraising event, which over the years has grown to include more than 15,000 participants. It has raised millions of dollars to fund breast cancer research and local breast health and breast cancer programs.

"We're committed to the health and well-being of East Tennessee," said Dr. Lytle Brown of Premier Breast Services and physician liaison on the Susan G. Komen Knoxville board of directors. "Our commitment is not confined to our exam and operating rooms, and this race is a great way to demonstrate Premier's commitment to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization and to finding a cure for breast cancer."

The 2011 Komen Knoxville Race for the Cure will be Saturday, Oct. 22, in World's Fair Park in downtown Knoxville. Registration for individuals and teams is now open at http://www.komenknoxville.org. From the Knoxville race, 75 percent of the net proceeds will fund local education, screening and treatment support, and the remaining 25 percent will fund national breast cancer research grants.

"We're proud of the participation by our physicians, staff and family members, and we encourage other area businesses and physician groups to join us," Brown added.
