Monday, July 18, 2011
Dr. Heath R. Many, a surgeon with Premier Surgical Associates, has been appointed to a three-year term as cancer liaison physician for the cancer program at Parkwest Medical Center.
"I have a strong interest in cancer care, and I'm dedicated to ensuring that patients get the highest quality care available," said Many. "Serving as cancer liaison physician affords me the opportunity to guide the process and ensure that Parkwest maintains our high standards of care."
Established in 1963, the Cancer Liaison Program of the Commission on Cancer was developed as a grassroots network of physician volunteers willing to manage clinically related cancer activities in their local institutions and surrounding communities.
The Commission on Cancer, established by the American College of Surgeons in 1922, is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education, and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
Many is part of a national network of over 1,600 volunteer physicians responsible for providing leadership and direction to establish, maintain and support their facility's cancer program.
